Day Return trekking in Kalaw


1. Kalaw to Taryaw village (B,L)


After breakfast, about (8:00 am) departs from hotel by car. Drive about (10 minutes) you will arrive to junction point for trekking. Leave the car at this point and down to the narrow and long road. On the way, you can see the tea plantation, cheroot leaves etc..,. About (2 ½ hours) walk, you can reach to Ywar Thit village. This village has a Danu races; one of the Shan tribe village. After that proceed to Tar Yaw village (about 15 minutes) living with Palaung tribe people. They used to be stayed together at huge long house with six to eight families. You can learn the ways of lives of these people including the cheroot leaf and tea leaf drying process and traditional weaving. And then, proceed to the view point for lunch with beautiful panoramic view of surrounding mountains. After lunch, take a short rest and come back to junction point. Get on the car and come back to hotel. Totally, you have to spend about (6 ½ hours) on that trekking trip.

2. Kalaw to Painnebin village (B,L)
After breakfast drive for 15 minutes to the north-west and stop at the junction A. From here take the footpath to the right. The road and trail goes through beautiful scenery with walking under the pine trees. You can also see the cheroot leaf and orange plantation. The light shines down the valley and the stream flows through the garden and the birds are chattering. After 1 ½ hours you arrive Painnebin village, a Palaung Tribal village with a population of 600 people. This village situated at 1300m above the sea level. These people make their living from agriculture and occasionally from hunting and live in long houses, with 4-5 families sharing the single storied structures. Have your lunch at one of the village houses and can learn the ways of their lives. You can also visit to a family they earn their living with traditional weaving. There is a monastery and basic education school with 5 teachers and 4 classrooms. You can visit this school and chat with the students and teachers. Take a break under the shady Banyan tree and from Painnebin village, you have to walk 45 minutes to reach junction B from where the car will bring you back to Kalaw(appr. 30 minutes drive).
Totally, you have to spend about (4 hours) on that trekking trip.


2 Days / 1 Nights from Kalaw to Inle Lake
KALAW – CHAUNGYI PAUK – KHAUNG DINE – INLE LAKE

Day 1. Kalaw – Chaungyi Pauk – Khaung (L,D)

Early morning drive to Thayepoo (appr. 1 hour), a Danu – Taung Yoe – Pa O village, the starting point for the 2 days trekking trip to Khaung Dine. Your local station tour guide will introduce you to the villagers along the way and will show you the traditional way of life. At Supan Inn a Danu and Taung Yoe Tribal Village you will stop for lunch. Only a 30 minutes away is a bathing place where you can have a bath and then proceed to Chaunggyi Pauk a typical Taung Yoe village. The people in this village are well known for their bamboo mattresses and handicrafts. Dinner and overnight at Chaungyi Pauk (can not have bath).


Day 2. Chaungyi Pauk – Khaung Dine – Inle Lake (B,L)
From Chaungyi Pauk it is only a 2 ½ hours walk to the Hot Spa, the only place were you can go for a hot bath. Don't miss the change. Then proceed by bus to Khaung Dine at the north-western shore of Inle Lake. This Intha village is well known for the production of soybean Cakes and noodles. From here transfer by boat to your hotel.

3 Days / 2 Nights from Kalaw to Inle Lake
Kalaw – Shabin – Khaung Dine – Inle Lake

Day 1. Kalaw – Shabin (Trekking) (B, L, D)

Early morning start your 3 days trekking trip. The road and trail goes through beautiful scenery. On the way visit the villages of Palaung, Danu, Pao and Taung Yoe. Your local station tour guide will introduce you to the villagers and will show you the traditional ways of life. Lunch in Hinkhagone a Palaung village. The path goes up and down. Native along the way do the plantation for Tea leaves, Coffee, Cordial leaves, Mustard, Ginger, Malt Rice, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Sesame. Late afternoon you will arrive to Shabin a typical Danu village with 12th Century old wooden monastery. Dinner and overnight in the village.


Day 2. Shabin – Teein (Trekking) (B, L, D)


After your breakfast at the monastery continue your trekking trip. It is about 7 hours trekking. The people in this area grow fruits; Avogadro, Banana, Oranges, Jack fruits, Papaya. You will have the chance to see the crab apple trees along the way together with some shady Banyan trees. Lunch at Pawke a Pao village. After lunch you have to walk for another 3½ hours to Teetain a typical Pao village. Native along this way do the plantation especially for Ginger. Dinner and overnight in the village.



Day 3. Teetain - Thandaung (Trekking) – Inle Lake (B,L,D)

After breakfast continue the 5 hours trekking trip to the shore of the Inle lake. The trail goes through beautiful scenery of Bamboo forest. The natives of Pao, Taung Yoe and Intha along the way grow fruits; Banana, Papaya, Potato and Beans. Lunch at lower Thandaung village. In the afternoon transfer by boat to your hotel.
